Hank Blalock was selected in the third round of the 1999 amateur draft by the Texas Rangers. After some time honing his talents in the Rangers' minor league system, Blalock joined the big club for part of the 2002 season. By 2003, he was an All-Star third baseman who hit .300, crushed 29 home runs and drove in 90 runs. Blalock hit 32 home runs in 2004 and made his second trip to the All-Star Game that year. Blalock stroked his 100th career home run in 2006 and is off to a solid start in 2007, flirting once again with the .300 mark.
