After seven years with Kansas City and an especially memorable 2004 season and postseason with Houston, Carlos Beltran joined the New York Mets for the start of the 2005 season. Beltran's steady bat and smooth glove in the outfield helped energize the team, which finished above .500 for the first time in recent memory.
