Sepia tone just for affect?

Comments about Fathead Boston Red Sox Inside Fenway Park Historical Mural:

I am just wondering why this mural is in sepia tone? The Prudential tower is clearly visible and was built in 1965. Why wouldn't one of the early photos be used for a sepia tone mural? Don't get me wrong, it is a lovely mural,just confusing.
