Bob Gibson was an intimidating force on the mound. Rarely cracking a smile Gibson would stare down opposing batters and would often throw brush back pitches to establish who was in control. Over the course of his 17 year career all with the St. Louis Cardinals Gibson compiled an impressive 251-174 record 3117 strike outs and a career ERA of just 2.91. A 9-time All-Star and 2-time World Series MVP and Champion Gibson's signature season came in 1968 when he went 22-9 with a 1.12 ERA and won the first of his 2 Cy Young Awards. Gibson was inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame in 1981.
