I purchased a medium for my skinny 7 year old son and it was snug. A youth medium shouldn't be snug on a 7 year old and other youth mediums hang off of him.
It was custom made with his name on the back and it looks great. But it'll last eight months tops because he'll grow out of it. Just order a size or two larger than you normally would.- Sizing:
