There are two major problems with this cap. One is that the A does not look right, as the right side stem is much too wide. The second area is that the style that this cap is supposed to represent is the cap worn in 1971-1972. The A on the cap worn since 1973 to the present is the same style; only the colors of the cap have changed. It should also be noted that the white cap was worn only by the manager and coaches. The white cap was never worn by the players. Billy Martin ended the practice of the A's manager and coaches wearing the white cap in 1981.
