For fans of this latest incarnation of a Yankees dynasty, the sight of the team, lined up along the first base line prior to Game One against the New York MetsŪ, was not only the culmination of the dream of a Subway Series™ - the first in New York in 45 years - but also a time to bask in the appreciation of the powerhouse and professional team that had been assembled for this remarkable run. Some day, a full appreciation of the remarkable accomplishment of these Yankees will no doubt settle into baseball history. For now, just viewing the club from the backs of their uniforms, was enough to move even the toughest Bronx-born Yankees fan. Joe Torre, number 6, had the starting lineup to his right. You can almost hear Bob Sheppard calling them out. "The designated hitter, number 11, Chuck Knoblauch. The shortstop, number 2, Derek Jeter. The left fielder, number 28, David Justice. The centerfielder, number 51, Bernie Williams. The first baseman, number 24, Tino Martinez. The catcher, number 20, Jorge Posada. The right fielder, number 21, Paul O'Neill. The third baseman, number 18, Scott Brosius. And the second baseman, number 13, Jose Vizcaino."
